Morii Design

Rooted in India’s centuries-old textile traditions, Morii Design is a Gandhinagar-based studio dedicated to preserving the country’s living heritage of craft. Each stitch and hand-drawn motif carries memory, skill, and care — fragile traditions that today face the pressures of industrialisation and imitation.

Working with over 180 artisans across 12 villages in India, the studio engages with techniques such as Sujni embroidery from Bihar, Rabari and Jat embroidery from Kutch, and Kantha from Bengal. The studio’s process begins in the villages, where designers and makers collaborate to learn, document, and reinterpret age-old stitch vocabularies through a contemporary design lens.

At its core, Morii Design seeks to restore dignity to artisans, giving voice to their craft and ensuring that India’s living heritage continues to evolve and thrive for generations to come.
